1. The Power of Networking

As I point out in my new book, in today’s time of job seeking, things have changed dramatically.  It’s not WHAT you know anymore, it’s more a matter of WHO you know.  Thus, it becomes incredibly important to build your network of associates and colleagues while gaining new contacts in the career field you are pursuing. One of the best ways to begin is to make sure you create a LinkedIn account.  Here you should build your profile, listing all our skills and expand on the items you cannot condense and put in your resume. The next thing to do is start your networking!  Do a search in LinkedIn and on Google, for associations, bulletin boards and forums in the field you are looking to become part of.  Make your presence known, join their forum, ask questions and learn from them.  Make sure you stay current, at least once a week and share what you have learned in your classes, ask questions about procedures and what is being done in the career field currently.  After you have become rather well known, you can then ask if anyone knows where you can get an internship or how do you obtain an entry-level position.  You will be surprised at the positive response you will get.

Halloween Fun

This year, we went to Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights and had a great time.  Will be posting video on YouTube soon on our YouTube site.  Also visited DisneyWorld for Halloween Fun and loved the Haunted Mansion and the updated Pirates of the Caribbean.  Great fun and spooky times at Universal Studios.

My New Book is Published!

After many months of hard work, editing, research and development, I have finally completed my book and it is gone to press.  It is entitled, “How to Get The Job You Want & Then Keep It!”   It will be available in printed form on Amazon.com, E-book form on Amazon and Ingram which will release to multiple E-book providers such as Barnes & Noble and so forth.  Look for it soon at E-book outlets.

Working on My Next Book!

My next work effort is to create a Lean Services textbook for academic use.  The idea is to make it useful to both the practitioner and to management.  It will be a book of how to implement from the beginning, and various practices throughout the transition period.  It will be useful to both students and industry who looks to Lean their operations.
